Sweden is one of the most forested countries in Europe, with about 70% of its land covered in trees. These vast woodlands are interspersed with over 100,000 lakes, creating a tranquil and pristine environment. The forests are home to wildlife like moose, lynx, foxes, and a rich variety of birds.

In the north, Swedish Lapland offers a magical Arctic landscape. During winter, the region is blanketed in snow and illuminated by the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). In summer, the Midnight Sun keeps the sky lit for 24 hours, creating surreal, golden landscapes.

A City with Deep Historical Roots
The name Banja Luka was first recorded in 1494, derived from the words banj (meaning "ban’s" or "lord’s") and luka (meaning "meadow" or "valley")—together, "the lord’s valley". However, the area’s history stretches back much further. Archaeological evidence shows that the region was inhabited during the Paleolithic era, and later by the Illyrian Maezaei tribe, before becoming part of the Roman province of Illyricum.
The Romans left a lasting legacy, including mineral springs and a military fort (castra) where the Kastel Fortress now stands. During the Ottoman period, Banja Luka flourished as a regional center, with iconic Islamic architecture such as the Ferhadija Mosque and Sahat Kula (clock tower) built during the 16th century.

Dating back to the 1500s, Krokstad Herrgård stood proudly near Lake Vänern, surrounded by majestic oak trees and expansive grounds that stretched to the water’s edge. The manor’s main building and wings were tastefully renovated to preserve their classical charm while offering modern comfort. The interiors were styled in a restful, country aesthetic, and the absence of TVs in guest rooms encouraged visitors to unwind and connect with nature.
